3cWPTP is a three column, fluid width, widget ready WordPress theme with a definite Web 2.0 look. I don’t know how exactly a Web 2.0 design is defined, but from what I have seen, any design with a light colored gradient scheme (particularly blue or green) with some sort of projected borders constitute Web 2.0. And this theme has it all.
Now this is one theme which requires a set of plugins to make the best out it. And the plugins are MyAvatars, WP-PageNavi, Sidebar Widgets, Get Recent Comments and Most Commented Posts. All are available for free and installation is just piece of cake.
On top left we have the blog header. Bad news - get ready with your Photoshop because the header is an image. Good news - the developer has the PSD file on his site. Of course he had to make the header an image, otherwise how will you get that Web 2.0 look?
Towards the right, we have the search box. There you can clearly see the Web 2.0 projection downwards, which I was taking about. Neat stuff.
Below the header there is horizontal static page navigation bar. On the right end of the bar is the RSS feed icon. I must say this position gives a lot more exposure to the feed icon than what is normally seen on WordPress themes.
Coming down we have our contents. It is a 3 column layout with main content on the center. The sidebars are pretty ordinary, except for Web 2.0 style greenish component headers.
The post title and other meta info on the center column, again, has the Web 2.0 signature (thanks to the blueish color scheme). Plus we have a green date box on to the left of the post title. This blue-green combo surely rocks. Post comments are displayed just below every post and the style along with the dialogue bubble looks good.
Down at the footer we have a footer bar. At the demo site (themes.wordpress.net) this bar remains pretty empty. I was wondering why so much of space has been wasted but soon I remembered the necessary plugins which the author talked about (refer para 1). And so I went to the author’s site for his demo and I was not disappointed. An excellent utilization of footer bar.
All in all, 3cWPTP is an excellent theme for all the Web 2.0 fans. The color scheme which is very close to that of Digg is certainly a treat for the eyes. My only concern is about the name - 3cWPTP. Come on man, you can come up with an excellent theme but can’t find an equally appealing name?
